Job Identification

The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by implementing and maintaining health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, training employees, and overseeing safety audits. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement OSH programs that comply with Jordanian Regulation No. 33 (2023), Labor Law No. 8 (1996), and international standards.
  • Design safety procedures and protocols for emergency response, evacuation, hazard control, and maintenance operations.
  • Ensure legal compliance with local and global Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify workplace hazards and recommend preventive and corrective measures.
  • Lead safety training and awareness programs covering hazard recognition, equipment use, first aid, and emergency procedures.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by raising awareness and engaging employees in health and safety initiatives.
  • Inspect and audit workplace conditions regularly to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and report safety performance, including incident statistics, near misses, and health indicators.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Supervise safety personnel and technical supervisors, ensuring proper execution of safety responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with accredited bodies to measure workplace pollutants and implement protective measures.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, including fire drills, evacuation exercises, and first aid readiness.
  • Support employee well-being through health and wellness programs, ergonomic assessments, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (HR, legal, operations) to align safety practices with organizational goals.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusion by providing safe work environments for individuals with disabilities and promoting sustainable, environmentally responsible practices.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Upper intermediate level of English.
  • Preferably to have NEBOSH IGC.
  • Good communication skills.
